Thank you @simon.audio for the #giftedbook.
A couple who are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child seem to have the perfect life. Until a pushy roommate encroaches on their happiness.
Not going to lie- I wasnโt sure about this one for two reasons. First, itโs billed as โfor fans of Gone Girl.โ We must stop equating everything to Gone Girl. Stop getting my hopes up that another book will match the Gone Girl gold standard. Second, I started Magpie right after I finished listening to All I Want- which also featured a couple getting ready to have their first baby. All I Want didnโt knock my socks off and I was afraid two psychological thrillers with pregnant main characters would be too much of the same thing. I was pleasantly surprised that Magpie was much better than All I Want.
I donโt want to go into detail about Magpieโs plot because I donโt want to give anything away. But the big twist in this one made sense to me. This was a much more satisfying ending than the wtf ending of All I Want. The writing was good and the characters were interesting. I loved the passive aggressive bitchy mother. Tanya Reynoldsโ narration was very entertaining. โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
TW- infertility, miscarriage.
Predictive text time: The key to happiness is______________.
The key to happiness is that you can always get a new set of pots. ๐ I got a new set of non-stick pots a few months ago so I guess I really did find the key to happiness. ๐
