Head Cases

Author: John McMahon
Narrator: Will Damron
Publisher: MacMillan Audio
Year: 2025

The FBI’s Patterns and Recognition Unit (PAR) is a special group of agents who investigate cases no one else can solve. Agent Gardner Camden is a brilliant and neurodivergent investigator who can discover patterns and make connections that other agents miss. Gardner and his unit are on the hunt for a serial killer who’s meting out his own gruesome brand of justice. The pressure’s on and case becomes personal when the killer strikes out at Gardner’s mother. It’s a race against the clock to catch a monster.

Author John McMahon is off to a great start with this new series. The characters are complex and interesting. I liked the cat and mouse game the killer plays taunting Gardner. The tension builds steadily throughout the book as the agents race to find answers. Narrator Will Damron does a fantastic job bringing the story and characters to life. I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

QOTD: Do you prefer psychological thrillers or fast-paced crime thrillers? Why?

I definitely like fast-paced crime thrillers more than psychological thrillers. I like action and more tangible crime than psychological. I’ll take a heist, a con, or a murder over a psychological thriller any day.
