What Boys Learn by Andromeda Romano-Lax is a tense, character-driven thriller that follows Abby, a mother who starts questioning how well she knows her son after two girls from Benjamin’s school end up dead. Abby was also the girls’ high school counselor at their elite private school, and when the deaths shake the community, she’s dismissed from her job. She’s also left fearing that secrets from her own past might resurface.
Abby can be frustrating. She analyzes Benjamin instead of simply talking to him. Her simmering mistrust makes her complicated but flawed. I thought Benjamin came off like a typical moody teenage boy most of the time, but he was still the one I found myself rooting for. His chapters kept the tension tight.
I guessed the big twist early, but it didn’t take away from the ride. This was a gripping and thoughtful story.
This one is perfect for psychological thriller lovers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
