Maude Dixon, a reclusive author, wrote a wildly successful book, but never gave an interview, never did any publicly, or book signings. She seemingly came out of nowhere. Now Florence, a young aspiring writer, has the chance to work for Maude as her assistant. It’s a dream job that gets Florence out of NYC, but it becomes more than she bargained for. 

What I liked: 

🖋 The characters - we learn Florence is a little sketchy right off the bat. She’s wildly ambitious and we’re not sure if her writing talent lives up to her aspirations. Maude Dixon is the pen name for Helen Wilcox. Helen is prickly and secretive. You just know something’s up with her. 

🖋 The settings - New York and then Morocco. I love a unique and international setting. 

🖋 All the twists and turns! The books starts off a little slow, but the back half more than makes up for that. It’s a cat and mouse game that’s filled with deception! 

🖋 The narrator- Thérèse Plummer is fantastic! 

This is a fun, twisty thriller! Fans of The Talented Mr. Ripley should definitely check it out.
